We left this amazing cottage in Irish Beach to drive through the Anderson and Napa Valleys on our way to San Francisco for the flight home on Sunday. Our main destination was Husch Vineyards, the owner is the friend who owns the cottage. If you're a wine drinker, they ship!
That's the Pacific at the end of the canyon in the top photo. A wonderful place to sit and be in the midst of nature's awe and wonder.
As we drove through a Redwood forest I was still in a place of peace and rest. It's so incredibly quiet among the Redwoods. Far different from the wind and crashing waves of the beach but the same result in me. Maybe it's the majesty of each, both demonstrations of the hand of our creative God. They create the feeling of awe that puts us in our place. We think we're so big, we think our lives are so important and then we stand next to a Redwood or on the edge of a 1400 foot bluff above the crashing waves and realize what a privilege it is to enjoy this beauty.
It's been a great week to sit back and relax. Lots of reading. Lots of walking. Casual conversations with my bride. Early mornings runs and then a dip in the hot tub. No Internet. Little mobile connectivity except at one high spot where if you stand just right you can get 4G. I didn't miss the news. I didn't miss the Internet. I didn't miss TV. What does that say?
Looking forward to getting home, seeing John and getting ready for the wedding. It's a big week!
